Following are steps for Windows & Mac :
- redsn0w 0.9.6 for Windows or Mac.
- iOS 4.2.1 build 8C148 for iPhone 3G from here.
- do NOT leave your SIM module inside the iPhone. Eject it and keep it aside.

Following are steps to Jailbreak iPhone 3G :
- Windows 7 and Vista users need to right-click on redsn0w.exe and run it as Administrator in “XP Compatibility Mode”. Mac users can just run the redsn0w app
- Click on browse and select the iPhone1,2_4.2.1_8C148_Restore.ipsw located on your desktop
- Once the iOS 4.2.1 for iPhone 3G is verified, ensure you check the Box,Install Cydia.
- You have to enable Homescreen,Wall paper,Battery Percentage & Multitasking.
- If an option prompts up stating that you can upgrade your iPhone baseband to an iPad baseband that can be unlocked with ultrasn0w 1.2. Click on Yes to proceed.
- Turn off your iPhone 3G by holding down the power button on the top till the phone turns off.
- Immediately hit Next button and then follow the instructions to put your iPhone in DFU mode. Just incase it fails, don’t worry. Start over again

- After succesfully compliting with jailbreak , connect your iPhone 3G to a Wi-Fi network and run Cydia
- Go to Manage menu and select Sources. Tap on Edit button on the top right corner and then tap on the Add button on top left corner,Type http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com in the small Enter Cydia/APT URL pop-up window
- Once the ultrasn0w source is added, tap on ‘Return to Cydia’ and choose repo666.ultrasn0w.com from the sources list
- Narrow down to Ultrasn0w 1.2, select it and tap on Install button on top right of the screen,Once the ultrasn0w package is installed, tap on Restart the Springboard
- Insert the active SIM you wish to use on this iPhone 3G running iOS 4.2.1 with 06.15 baseband.
