Whenever we insert any Cd’s, DVD or pen drive then It will detect automatic it called autorun, in windows by default Autoplay, autorun is On. Most malware applications spread because of the Autorun feature, which automatically executes a said file mentioned in the autorun.inf file located at the root of any removable device like USB. Also the Open folder to view files option can be easily used to run any unwanted file or executable and thus in this way there is a risk of your computer getting infected. Precaution is better than cure, its very simple to disable autorun.
1. Goto Start, enter Gpedit.msc & press Enter key.
2. Goto Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates
3. Now navigate to Windows Components & then Autoplay Policies.
4. Double click ‘Turn Off AutoPlay’ in detailed settings pane.
5. Click enabled option & selects ‘all drives’ from drop down box.
7. Click Apply, OK. Settings should be effective on system restart or reboot.
