The registry of a Windows computer controls how the operating system uses programs, and as such it’s a very critical file. If there are problems in the registry you may face this problem blue screens, crashes, lock-ups, and general slowdown.
The good news is that like any other file, the registry can be changed, cleaned, and edited to make it function better. But before you do any of that, it’s wise to make a backup of the registry in case something goes wrong.
Taking a back up of Windows 7 registry is simple task and you can save this back up in a removable drive or any cd’s and Dvd.
Follow this step to Back Up the Windows 7 Registry
- Click on the start button and click Run oR Win +R
- Type regedit and press enter. This will open up the registry editor.
- You can see Computer on the left panel, click on it. You can right click and then select Export.
- Alternately you can select export from the file menu by selecting Computer on the left panel
- The back up will be stored as .reg files.
