Following are Steps to Fix iTunes Error 1013:
Mac OS X:
- Go to your “Applications” folder.
- Then go to “Utilities” folder.
- Launch “Terminal”.
- Type the following command in terminal “sudo nano /etc/hosts” and hit enter.
- Terminal will ask for you password, enter your password.
- Use the down arrow key to find the “gs.apple.com” entries. Once the cursor is in front, make sure you comment out the line(s) by entering “#” in front of the text.
- Save the file by pressing CONTROL+O.
- Exit the nano editor by pressing CONTROL+X.
- Restore your iDevice.
Windows:
- Start –> Programs –> Accessories
- Run Notepad
- Now File->Open in Notepad.
- Browse to Windows/System32/drivers/etc
- select all documents in “files of type:”
- Open “hosts”
- Delete all lines containing “gs.apple.com” or similar to that
- Save the file.
- Restore your device
